Artist's Shadow in the Landscape
acrylic and soldering iron on board
60 cm diameter (framed in black)
"My distinctive hybrid style of drawing is with a soldering iron combined with coloured inks and acrylics, and one that I have developed over many years. The process of gently etching and re-etching into the painted surface nicely mirrors the marks left in nature with its natural process of decay and renewal. Both memory and direct experience of the landscape come into play when considering a work. I am eternally drawn to the mystical, timelessness of Australian gums set amongst rocky terrain under a cloak of meandering mist… this is what captures my attention’ Art does, however, need an audience to give it meaning and context and it is every artist’s joy when that connection is made between the viewer and their work of art."
